Zona Dron privacy policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026. Applies to Zona Dron (es.zonadron.app), all versions.
Versión en español: política de privacidad.
The short version
Zona Dron collects no personal data, has no user accounts, has no server of its own, and carries no advertising or trackers. Everything you save in the app stays on your phone.
What is stored, and where
The following is stored only in the app’s private storage, on your device. It is not sent anywhere, neither to the developer nor to third parties:
- Your settings (default height, language, appearance, accent colour, base map).
- Your operator details: name, UAS operator number, e-mail and phone.
- Your drones: nickname, make, model, serial number, weight, class and notes.
- The documents you add (certificates, insurance, declarations of conformity…). The files are copied into the app’s private folder.
- Your saved places, your query history and your flight log.
- The data packs you download for flying without coverage.
They are deleted when you delete them in the app, or when you uninstall it. If you have Android backup enabled, the system may include this data in your own device backup; that is handled by Google with your account, not by the app.
What leaves the phone, and why
Answering “can I fly here?” means asking official services. When you run a query, the app sends the coordinates of the point you are checking — and nothing else — to these services:
| Service | What for | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| ENAIRE | UAS geographical zones and NOTAMs | Coordinates of the point |
| Open-Meteo | Weather, wind and terrain elevation | Coordinates of the point |
| Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) | Place search and place names | The search text or coordinates |
| IGN / IDEE / PNOA | Base maps and cartography | Coordinates of the map tiles |
| Catastro, MITECO, IEPNB | Land use and protected areas | Coordinates of the point |
| ENAIRE AIP | Aerodrome charts and data sheet, only when generating an EARO | Nothing of yours: the aerodrome’s public page is requested |
| Aviation Weather Center (NOAA) | Aerodrome METAR, only when generating an EARO | The aerodrome identifier (for example, LEVC) |
| Google Maps / Apple Maps | Resolving a link you share with the app | The shared link |
Those requests carry no identity, no name, no device identifier, none of your operator details and none of your documents: only the point needed for the query. Each of those services has its own privacy policy and will see, like any server, the IP address the request comes from.
In offline mode, with a downloaded pack, the whole check runs on the device and nothing leaves it.
Authorisation requests and other e-mails the app prepares are not sent by the app: they open in your own mail app, with the documents you ticked attached, and you are the one who reviews and sends them.
Location
The app asks for location permission in order to check where you are. That location is used there and then for the query and is never stored on any server. You can use the app without granting the permission: search for the place or mark it on the map instead.
The documents you save
Files you add to the document folder are copied into the app’s private storage on your device. They are never uploaded anywhere. They only leave when you ask them to: when you tap “Open” or “Share”, which hands them to whichever app you choose, or when you tick them to be attached to an e-mail that you then send yourself.
Notifications
The app may show system notifications, for example the day before a flight you have planned or before a document expires. Those notifications are scheduled and generated on the phone itself: there is no server sending them and no push notifications, and no data leaves the phone for them. The notification permission is only requested when there is something to notify, and you can revoke it at any time in the system settings.
Purchases
If the app offers anything paid, the purchase is made through Google Play and is governed by its terms. Your payment details are handled by Google; the developer never sees them. Google gives the developer the order details it gives any seller (order number, product, amount and country), which are only used to handle refunds and enquiries. The app keeps the purchase confirmation on the phone so that it keeps working without coverage.
Advertising, analytics and profiling
None. No advertising, no analytics SDK, no trackers, no user profiles, no selling data to anyone. If the app crashes, Google Play may give the developer an anonymous crash report, as it does for any app on the store; that belongs to Google Play and is not something the app adds.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anybody, them included.
Your rights
Since no personal data is collected or stored outside your device, there is nothing the developer could look up, correct or delete on your behalf: the data is yours and it is on your phone, and it is deleted from the app itself or by uninstalling it.
Source available
The source code is published and can be read at https://github.com/DKNS-JCC/zonadron, so that anyone can check how the app handles your data. It is source-available, not open source: the terms for the code are in its licence.
Changes to this policy
If it ever changes, this document will be updated with its date and the change will be mentioned in the release notes of the corresponding version.
Terms of use
Use of the app is governed by its terms of use.
